Where to watch the Road House remake

Initially hesitant, Dalton takes up the offer after narrowly averting a suicide attempt with a freight train that destroys his car. He takes a bus to Frankie's establishment, called simply The Road House, and befriends Charlie, a teenager who runs a bookstore with her father, Stephen. "Road House" remains one of the films for which Hudson is best known, but he hasn't let that slow his pace. He also plays ex-husband to Elena (Kim Basinger) in the sequel "Fifty Shades Freed."

Where to Watch

In a mid-credits scene, Knox has survived and assaults the hospital staff, leaving in his gown. Climbing up on a causeway, Knox carjacks a pickup truck and crashes into the Road House, leading to a brutal fistfight with Dalton. He prepares to finish off Dalton with a shard of wood, but Dalton gains the upper hand and repeatedly stabs Knox into submission, leaving him for dead.

A bouncer is hired in a rowdy bar where brawling is a nightly event, but his efforts to clean it up are stifled by a local crime boss. From the street, the box-shaped house sits discreetly at the end of a short driveway. To the right of the two-car garage, a stone pathway meanders through a landscaped courtyard and past a large rock sculpture to the architectural, double-height, glass-enclosed entrance offering immediate ocean views across the length of the home. Here's everything you need to know, from where to catch the Road House remake to where you can revisit the original, plus a look at the stellar cast. Judging by the trailer, Gyllenhaal appears to have gotten pretty ripped for the film. The film is based on the original motion picture Road House screenplay by David Lee Henry and Hilary Henkin.

Characteristically, the first time we see Cody on stage, he has to stop in the middle of a set when he's injured by a piece of flying glass. In "Road House," Swayze plays a hotly sought-after cooler (basically a bouncer). At first, his time at the Double Deuce appears to be nothing more than just another job, but after his new lover is threatened and his old friend Wade (Sam Elliott) is murdered, things get a lot more personal. Some films strive to impress upon us the inherent beauty of the human condition and how it should keep our souls nourished even in what seem like the most hopeless of situations.

Dalton agrees in exchange for full authority over the club's operations, immediately firing several employees for poor behavior, theft, and drug dealing. For privacy, Dalton stays in a sparse barn owned by a farmer Emmett, unaware that the mansion across the adjacent lake is owned by Brad Wesley, a crime lord controlling the town through bribery, intimidation, and violence. Road House has achieved cult status and was voted as the most watched film on cable in 2020.[5][6] The film was followed by a direct-to-DVD 2006 sequel that was widely panned, and was remade in 2024 to mixed/positive critic reviews. Of course, the home also comes with all the benefits of any Malibu address, including not having to pay the usual 4% mansion tax on sales in other parts of Los Angeles, and the Santa Monica Mountains as a dramatic backdrop. Upstairs, the primary suite boasts a two-sided fireplace between the bedroom and a sitting room, vaulted wood ceilings, a luxurious spa bathroom, a large walk-in closet and a private terrace atop the covered lounge below, according to the listing. Another en-suite bedroom with a covered terrace is reached by a floating walkway overlooking the downstairs.

Lynch claimed Bill Murray did this even while the comedy legend was in Russia, implying he ignored the time difference and woke them up in the middle of the night for the prank. In the original 1989 film “Road House,” Patrick Swayze played the lead role of James Dalton, a bouncer protecting a town from a corrupt businessman. Sam Elliott portrayed his friend and mentor, while Kelly Lynch played his love interest and Ben Gazzara portrayed the villain.

Terrell is a huge fan of great storytelling when it comes to television and film. Some of his favorite shows include The Crown, WandaVision, Abbot Elementary and Godfather of Harlem. Troubled former UFC middleweight fighter Elwood Dalton makes a living scamming fighters on the underground circuit. He is approached by Frankie, the owner of an unruly roadhouse in the Florida Keys community of Glass Key, who offers him a job as head bouncer.

Glass enclosures around the outdoor areas on this level allow unobstructed views. While nobody can quite fill Patrick Swayze's shoes, the remake boasts an impressive lineup of talented actors. Carrie isn't a major player in "Road House," though she manages to pull double duty as both server and entertainer when she sings "Knock on Wood" on stage. Sadly, Gazzara died in 2012 at the age of 81 from the same disease that took his "Road House" co-star Patrick Swayze — pancreatic cancer. However, he soon discovers hidden mysteries and secrets lurking beneath the surface, making his life far from ordinary. The film takes viewers on an adventure filled with twists and turns, where nothing is quite what it seems. The cast of the 2024 movie “Road House” includes Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, Daniela Melchior as Ellie, Billy Magnussen as Ben Brandt, Jessica Williams as Frankie, Joaquim de Almeida, Austin Post (Post Malone) as Carter, and Conor McGregor as Knox. These talented actors bring their characters to life, adding excitement and intrigue to the film.

Michaels has continued to act over the years, most recently playing an underground boxer and deceased mother of Malin Ã…kerman's Anna in the 2020 action comedy "Chick Fight." But more often than not, when she's in front of the camera, she's replacing actors rather than being one. Michaels has been a stuntwoman for decades, including serving as Pamela Anderson's stunt double on "Baywatch" and the action comedy series "V.I.P." She also did stunts in "Titanic," "Charmed," "Rush Hour 3," and many, many more films and TV series. He joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and later became an undercover police officer who studied acting in order to help him catch real-life crooks. In 2015, he told The Movie Waffler that after landing the stage role of Puck in William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," the acting bug had him for real. Both before and after his appearance in "Road House," he appeared in scores of TV series, including the original "Walker, Texas Ranger." He played six different characters on that series — including in both the series premiere and the series finale.

J. D. Pardo, Beau Knapp, Kevin Carroll, and Hannah Love Lanier flesh out the world of the film with additional characters whose allegiances are yet to be revealed. One of the Double Deuce bouncers you learn to hate early on is the smart-mouth Steve (Gary Hudson). While Steve survives Dalton's initial purge of the bar's staff, his good luck doesn't last long. When Dalton catches him in a compromising situation with an underage girl he'd snuck into the bar, his time with the good guys is over.

Although Emmett is saved, the enraged Dalton fights Reno and rips his throat out, much to Elizabeth's shock and disgust. James Dalton is a professional bouncer working security for a club in New York City. Although stoic and cool-headed, Dalton is tormented by memories of a man he killed in self-defense by ripping out his throat. Frank Tilghman, a businessman, recruits Dalton to take over security at his club "Double Deuce" in Jasper, Missouri. Tilghman plans to invest substantial funds into the dilapidated club and needs Dalton's highly regarded skills to tackle the endemic violence and rough customers.

Whether you're a nostalgic fan or just curious to see the remake on its own terms, expect gripping action and gritty drama that made the original a cult classic. Healey kept creating, recording, and performing music prolifically up until his death. Including solo records and those done with the Jeff Healey Band, the guitarist and singer released over 20 albums — some in his life time and some posthumously, including 2008's "Mess of Blues," which shipped less than two weeks after Healey's passing. To any character with a shred of decency in "Road House," the biggest thorn in their side is the sadistic and wealthy Brad Wesley, played by Ben Gazzara.

Elizabeth arrives and reconciles with Dalton, but Wesley recovers and attempts to shoot him before being shot dead by the locals, including Emmett and Red. Sometime later, the modernized and refined Double Deuce bustles with customers while Dalton and Elizabeth swim together in a lake. Wesley's nephew Pat, who is one of the fired employees, intimidates Tilghman into giving him his job back and attacks Dalton, who badly injures Pat and his accomplices. Receiving a knife wound in the process, Dalton visits a hospital and befriends Dr. Elizabeth Clay to whom Wesley is also attracted. After sending his henchmen to unsuccessfully try to disrupt business at the Double Deuce, Wesley offers to hire Dalton himself. Dalton refuses and Wesley uses his connections to prevent the Double Deuce from purchasing alcohol from any suppliers.

The adjacent dining room flows into a covered outdoor lounge that’s enclosed in glass on three sides—both agents said this space has resonated the most with those who have seen the house. It overlooks a spacious patio with a seating area and an in-ground hot tub as well as a grassy path toward the ocean. Conor McGregor transitions from the ring to the silver screen, as Knox, the ruthless gun-for-hire who heightens the stakes. Supporting are Daniela Melchior as Ellie and Lukas Gage as Billy, with a special cameo by Post Malone as the battered fighter Carter.

He also enjoyed a recurring role on the sci-fi series "Babylon 5," mostly as the alien Ta'Lon. The Oscar-nominated actor (receiving the nod for his role in Brokeback Mountain) is a staple in Hollywood having starred in movies such as Donnie Darko, Nightcrawler, The Covenant, Ambulance and The Guilty. Not only does he continue to be prolific in live-action films and TV series, notably in the award-winning Oprah Winfrey Network drama "Greenleaf," but he's also cultivated an impressive voice acting career.

Audience Reviews

He said the day after the wrap party for "Road House," director Rowdy Herrington called him and said almost all of his performance needed to be cut to save time. He pointed out that he still gets residuals from the film and that it gave him the opportunity to meet Sam Elliott, as well as to do a fight scene with professional wrestler Terry Funk. Losing his sight before his first birthday to the rare retinal cancer retinoblastoma, Healey begin playing guitar at the age of 3, utilizing his unique style of playing it on his lap. The month after "Road House" was released, the Jeff Healey Band's single "Angel Eyes" entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at 85, eventually reaching as far as No. 5. When Dalton first shows up at his new place of work, there's at least one friendly face waiting for him. The house band is led by Cody, a blind jazz and blues guitarist who warns his old friend that the Double Deuce is a "toilet" and says it's worse than a bar where Cody and Dalton had worked in Dayton.

Soon after Dalton gives Brad Wesley's nephew his walking papers, the Double Deuce hires a new crop of bartenders, all sporting red polo shirts. He doesn't get much screen time and barely has any lines, which is strange considering not only was David already a prolific actor by 1989 thanks to films like "The Thing," "Platoon," and "They Live," but he had a relatively high billing in the film. He told Barbara Walters (via CNN), "If I leave this Earth, I want to leave this Earth just knowing I've tried to give something back and tried to do something worthwhile with myself." In September 2009, Swayze died from the disease at the age of 57. Dalton (Patrick Swayze) is a highly regarded professional cooler of bars and clubs. He is hired by Frank Tilghman (Kevin Tighe) to clean up his Double Deuce Road House down in Jasper, Missouri. A rough drunken and bloody place, the Double Deuce is just the start of Dalton's problems as he falls foul of town despot Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara). Acts as a character who is integral to the development of the film's main events and interactions. Portrays a character whose details and backstory add complexity to the tapestry of the movie's plot. One evening, the auto shop adjacent to the Double Deuce — owned by Elizabeth's uncle Red Webster — is destroyed in an arson attack.

Where to watch the Nickelodeon documentary 'Quiet on Set'

After Dalton and the crowds return inside the Double Deuce, they find Wesley awaiting them. He has his men fight Dalton's bouncers and damage the bar before agreeing to leave. Wesley sabotages other businesses as the local owners discuss their futile efforts to stop him. Garrett attempts to calm Dalton, trying to assuage his guilt about killing in self-defense and his frustration at being unable to end Wesley's campaign. Elizabeth also tries to dissuade Dalton from continuing before Emmett's home is blown up by Wesley's henchman Jimmy Reno.

Fans of the original Road House know it starred the late Patrick Swayze as James Dalton, a bouncer hired at a roadside bar who was tasked with whipping the establishment into shape. Given the reputation of the bar, the crowd it usually attracted and the handful of less-than-adequate employees, the job proved not to be an easy feat. In the new reimagined Road House, Jake Gyllenhaal stars as ex-UFC fighter Dalton, and he seems to be a bouncer who’s a little more lethal with his hands and slightly more humorous. The plot of “Road House” revolves around a retired UFC middleweight fighter who finds employment at a roadside bar in the Florida Keys.

Other movies do their best to tell us that, no matter what sacrifices they call for, the safeguarding of our most hallowed values are worth any battle we're forced to wage. And then there's the 1989 action flick "Road House," which merely hopes to teach us that — as the film's butt-kicking hero tells his future lover — "pain don't hurt." The Double Deuce is the meanest, loudest and rowdiest bar south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and Dalton has been hired to clean it up. He might not look like much, but the Ph.D.-educated bouncer proves he's more than capable – busting the heads of troublemakers and turning the roadhouse into a jumping hot spot. But Dalton's romance with the gorgeous Dr. Clay puts him on the bad side of cutthroat local big shot Brad Wesley.

Jake Gyllenhaal (with an incredible body transformation) takes the lead as Dalton, the tough-as-nails bouncer with a troubled past, opposite Jessica Williams as Frankie, the owner of the Florida Keys where the story unfolds. After premiering at the SXSW film festival, Doug Liman's reboot of Road House is available to stream and brings a modern twist to the Eighties classic, which starred the late Patrick Swayze. Road House can sometimes be so bad it's good, but more often, the uneven acting and ridiculous story are just disappointing.

The film received a sequel in 2006 titled “Road House 2.” The new version of “Road House” with Jake Gyllenhaal, directed by Doug Liman, will be available on Prime Video on March 21, 2024. With his action hero credentials, he’s likely the ex-UFC fighter navigating the dangers of the Florida Keys. No action movie would be complete without a friend of the main character who doesn't survive the conflict, and in "Road House," it's Sam Elliott who provides the blood for the sacrificial rite. Elliott plays Wade Garrett — Dalton's friend, mentor, and one of the only characters in the film intimately familiar with Dalton's past and why it haunts him. The ocean-facing living area features a double-sided fireplace, a wet bar and picturesque views through expansive black-clad windows and sliding doors, which were added by the owner, Monus said.

At the Road House, Dalton fends off a motorcycle gang working for local crime boss Ben Brandt and personally drives the injured thugs to the hospital, where he meets Ellie, a doctor who tends to his injuries. Staying in Frankie's disused houseboat, Dalton mentors the other bouncers and becomes popular with the locals. After an attempt on his life by gang leader Dell, Dalton finds him lying in wait at his houseboat. He throws Dell overboard but is unable to save him from being killed and eaten by a crocodile. In the Family Guy season 8 episode "Brian's Got a Brand New Bag", Peter Griffin purchases a DVD copy of Road House for a dollar at a closing video store. After watching the film, he decides that the only way to solve every problem is by roundhouse kicking everything in sight including his family. The episode was dedicated in memory of Swayze, who died of pancreatic cancer on September 14, 2009.[36] Since the episode, Peter kicking people has since became a gag in the show. Later, Wesley contacts Dalton threatening that either Elizabeth or Garrett will die. Garrett is attacked, but fights off his assailants and comes to Double Deuce, while Dalton checks on Elizabeth, who is safe but unwilling to talk to Dalton any further. Distraught, Dalton storms Wesley's estate, kills most of his henchmen and defeats, but relents from killing Wesley, refusing to give in to his anger.

The movie is directed by Doug Liman and written by Anthony Bagarozzi, Charles Mondry, and David Lee Henry. It is produced by Joel Silver and features cinematography by Henry Braham, editing by Doc Crotzer, and music by Christophe Beck. You've almost certainly seen Michaels on the big and small screens since her time in "Road House," though in a lot of cases, you probably didn't know it was her.

We have grown our engineering capacity, expanded our software capabilities, and strengthened our expertise in a variety of new process technologies. Through it all, I am proud that we have stayed true to our core values of respect, caring, collaboration and excellence while continuing our record of 100% delivery. In 1917, The Bureau of Los Angeles Aqueduct sought to build a holding reservoir to regulate flow and provide hydroelectric power and storage in case of disruption to the aqueduct system.

In 1910, employment dropped to 1,150 due to financial reasons but rebounded later in the year. The number of laborers working on the aqueduct at its peak was 3,900.[15][16][17][18] In 1913, the City of Los Angeles completed construction of the first Los Angeles Aqueduct. The city acquired three limestone quarries, two Tufa quarries and it constructed and operated a cement plant in Monolith, California, which could produce 1,200 barrels of Portland cement per day.

Owens went on to call Jera his muse in several statements which he gave afterwards. Tragedy struck in 1928, when the St. Francis Dam in northern Los Angeles County burst, inundating the towns of Castaic Junction, Fillmore, Bardsdale and Piru with billions of gallons of water and drowning hundreds of residents. An investigation concluded that the rock in the area had been too unstable to support the dam. Though Mulholland was cleared of charges in connection with the incident, his reputation was ruined, and he was forced to resign. The Los Angeles Aqueduct was extended further north by the early 1940s through the Mono Basin Project, finally reaching a total length of 338 miles (544 kilometers).

This multi-phased process minimizes roadblocks later on in the development process. For design and construction purposes the aqueduct was divided into Northern and Southern sections and the two are connected by the San Francisquito Tunnels, which are part of the First Aqueduct. The aqueduct as originally constructed consisted of six storage reservoirs and 215 mi (346 km) of conduit. Beginning 3.5 mi (5.6 km) north of Blackrock (Inyo County), the aqueduct diverts the Owens River into an unlined canal to begin its 233 mi (375 km) journey south to the Lower San Fernando Reservoir.[19] This reservoir was later renamed the Lower Van Norman Reservoir. Owens distanced himself from it and stressed that he and his company had not known anything about it in advance; he also banned Jera from his shows.

Throughout this process, the Owens Design team will provide expert guidance on how to manage tradeoffs – and guide you to the best solution. To establish the necessary technical and business alignment, Owens Design will consider your business, key technical challenges, cost, schedule demands, and vision for the project. We'll discuss objectives, obstacles, timelines, and more to gain a comprehensive understanding of what you want to achieve. Following Phase 1, the customer and Owens Design will move on with the tool development and build. The number of men who were on the payroll the first year was 2,629 and this number peaked at 6,060 in May 1909.

In the 1920s, Owens Valley residents grew angry and frustrated after seeing their farms drained of water, nearly every drop of which was pumped into the steadily growing San Fernando Valley. In 1924 and again in 1927, protesters blew up parts of the aqueduct, marking a particularly explosive chapter in the so-called “water wars” that had divided southern California. Owens Design (ODI) designs and builds advanced custom manufacturing equipment for technology companies from VC-funded start-ups to S&P500 corporations. For over 35 years ODI has been developing leading edge manufacturing equipment in the Silicon Valley, specializing in the development of complex, high speed, high precision and mission-critical process, metrology and automation factory equipment. In 1956, the State Department of Water Resources reported that Los Angeles was exporting only 320,000 acre-feet (390 million cubic metres) of water of the 590,000 acre⋅ft (730 million m3) available in the Owens Valley and Mono Basin. Three years later, the State Water Rights Board warned Los Angeles that they could lose rights to the water they were permitted for but not appropriating. By 1974, exports climbed to 450,000 acre⋅ft (560 million m3) per year.[29] Unlike the First Aqueduct which was built entirely by Public Works, the Second Los Angeles Aqueduct was primarily built on contract by various private construction firms including R.A. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power managed the project and performed some finishing construction on the Mojave conduit and Jawbone & Dove Spring pipelines.

With the help of his former boss Fred Eaton (who had also served as mayor of Los Angeles), Mulholland identified a potential solution in the Owens Valley region, located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada some 200 miles away. The engineers estimated that the Owens River, which ran through this region, could provide more than enough water to meet the needs of a growing Los Angeles. If both parties agree there is a mutual fit, we will propose a Phase 1 as a low-cost, low-risk way to establish your project concept along with cost and timelines. “About 15 years ago, while working at a startup as an engineering director looking for a competent supplier I ran into the Owens Design team. Since that time I started using Owens services and was amazed about the expediency and professionalism with which they addressed our challenges. In early 2014, John and Bob invited me to join the ranks to expand our markets and develop our customer base.

The dam failure is the worst man-made flood disaster in the US in the 20th century and the second largest single-event loss of life in California history after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. “When Bill Owens founded Owens Design in 1983, his vision was to create a company where talented engineers and technicians worked together to design and build manufacturing equipment for the emerging high technology companies of the day. Since that time, Owens has developed custom equipment for every new wave of technology emerging from Silicon Valley, from hard disk drives, semiconductors, solar cells, energy storage, medical devices and consumer mobile products.

If mutual qualification is established, a Phase 1 is a fast, cost-effective way to minimize risk for the most complex custom automation equipment projects, especially those on accelerated schedules. “Shortly after Bill Owens hired me as a Mechanical Design Engineer, I encountered a new experience working directly with customers. I found it rewarding to create and execute plans to bring their equipment to “life,” and my role in managing projects emerged. “Working at Owens Design for over 20 years, it still excites me to see client’s “ideas” and “goals” come in the front door and leave on a truck as complex pieces of machinery. In 1907, Los Angeles voters approved another bond issue for the aqueduct, this time for $23 million, and construction began the following year. Some 4,000 laborers worked at top speed, using new technologies such as the Caterpillar tractor and setting records for miles tunneled and pipe cut.

The resulting St. Francis Dam was completed in 1926 and created a reservoir capacity of 38,000 acre-feet (47,000,000 m3). On March 12, 1928, the dam catastrophically failed, sending a 100-foot high (30 m) wall of water down the canyon, ultimately reaching the Pacific Ocean near Ventura and Oxnard, and killing at least 431 people. The resulting investigation and trial led to the retirement of William Mulholland as the head of the Los Angeles Bureau of Water Works and Supply in 1929.

At his father's retirement in 1984, John redirected his architecture firm’s focus when he boldly capitalized on developing computer technology to keep up with unprecedented expansion of corporate clients. Founding Principal, John Chipman, began creating a new direction for his father’s retail interior design firm in 1979 when he joined the small Chicago design practice. Building upon an existing base of regional main-street retail clients, John led the firm into a position of national recognition. While creating a compelling new store experience is exciting, we know that implementing an all encompassing concept across your entire fleet is what makes a real impact. In order to successfully achieve large-volume architectural programs, we rely on solution-oriented thinking and proactive project management, with architectural excellence at the core of every construction document set we produce.

BEST FIRMS TO WORK FOR

We are adept at tapping the latest innovation and navigating change, leveraging technology to keep us ahead of the competition. By exploring new ways to help clients bring their ideas to life, we organize our internal teams strategically to produce work that makes us all eternally proud. With a depth of experience and an eye to the horizon, we are able to clearly navigate the rapidly evolving competitive market landscape our clients face. With over forty years of architectural design history and a viewpoint focused on the future, our firm is for anyone seeking a novel approach.

Integrating both advanced technology and dependable mechanisms will ensure a contactless experience from initial entry and beyond. CDA has been a remote-capable work environment since the beginning of 2020, and currently, all our job site visits and construction sites are COVID compliant. We believe that human behavior is inherently structural, and our ability to navigate creative and practical solutions allows us to be the ultimate connector between the public and their experience with an environment. While we value pencil to paper, we integrate the latest technology to innovate the design process. John earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois/Urbana reinforcing his studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Versailles, France, and at the Nacional d’Art Decoratif de Nice, France. Throughout his professional life, he has traveled extensively for both business and research throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Admittedly, COVID-19 is uncharted territory, but as the leading architectural design firm for a post-COVID-19 world, we are facing it with courage, innovation and resilience. Chipman Design has assembled a complement of highly-respected, nationally licensed engineering partners over the last four decades. With CDA acting as the main point of contact, this architect/engineer collaborative effort assures each client an effective project approach to both prototypical and site adaptable programming, ensuring a true synergistic team. By starting with these settings, I’m able to zoom in to smaller ideas should my board require more granular definition, while retaining the ability to zoom out to macro ideas or definitions with big, impact-sized words and type. Plunging to the depths of 3% and 2% is like the bottom of the ocean; you don’t know what you’re going to find down there. If you start with the default 100%-zoom 14pt font, you’re left with very little zoom room to become more granular in your mapping and thinking.

Shape, color, and content – these three categories build the sequence of cognition or the order in which we perceive information through visual perception. If you’re only using content (words) to convey meaning, you’re losing a ton of terrific opportunities for more nuanced and dynamic definitions. As thought leaders on architectural design in a post-COVID world, we’re committed to keeping our clients and industries updated with the latest perspectives and findings.

It was in the early 1950’s that Albert B. Chipman established one of the first professional practices devoted to commercial planning and design. A generation later, Albert’s son John Chipman expanded the business from its initial staff of three to build the architecture firm Chipman Design, in 1979. By the mid 1990s, state-of-the-art computer technology became one of the firm’s hallmark services. In 2019, CDA celebrated their 40th anniversary and today it is still family owned with John Chipman’s daughter, Lauren Chipman, leading the team into the 21st century. More advanced techniques, such as grouping and layers, object links and color will be covered in future posts.

With its corporate office in Chicago, an office in Los Angeles and an affiliated office in New York, the firm is recognized nationally for its expertise in prototype design development, site adaptation and visualization services. Client presentations are created in-house using 3-D computer renderings and animations, enhanced by hand-drawn conceptual design sketches. Over the past five years, I’ve used the platform to map out various facets of my family’s architectural firm.

A firm grasp of these techniques and mechanics will significantly enhance the speed with which you can create boards and allow for more expansive and robust visualization. Pictured below is the finished project infrastructure, created from a core template with all non-applicable platforms removed. A Miro project was created with the account name and this board dropped in, ensuring that all team members would be able to quickly reference the core. We were also able to determine who had received training in fundamentals and best practices based on our color-coding association and quickly get everyone on the same page, saving countless unnecessary questions within the project lifecycle. We strategically assemble teams to best support a program’s unique needs that guarantees a consistent partnership with a group of talented experts who are there from beginning to end.Our clients are true partners. Together we work closely to create project programming that carries a client’s brand forward.

Spanish Smoked Sweet Paprika

the spice house

My typical applications are to add just a bit of paprika to many savory dishes to improve the flavor. Not enough so you can taste paprika, just enough so that the paprika makes a difference. I also use it in Chicken Paprikash, there for the paprika flavor. We curated spice bundles to help you get inspiration on your cooking journey. Hungarian Sweet Paprika is steeped in history and tradition.

Featured in over 2 million kitchens nationwide.

Travel the world through the lens of spices and unique blends. Whether you are a home cook looking to experiment with new flavors or a professional chef seeking the finest ingredients, Hungarian Sweet Paprika is a must-have. Embrace the rich culinary heritage of Hungary and elevate your cooking with this exceptional spice. Chili crisps and hot sauces sparked the idea for a base of chile powder and flakes and crunchy aromatics like garlic and shallots. Plus, we knew we wanted to tap into other flavors of Mexican, Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern cooking. Times Test Kitchen, we started blending and tasting and tweaking.

Argyle Street Stir Fry Blend

For more than 60 years we’ve been mastering the art of blending freshly ground spices. Each of the blends, seasonings, and rubs found below are carefully balanced bouquets of the finest herbs, spices, and salts from across the globe. Everything we blend is crafted by hand in small, weekly batches to ensure premium freshness and unmatched flavor. What is the one thing you absolutely need to take a dish from blasé to a culinary masterpiece? Without the right blend of seasonings, salt, spices, and herbs food would be boring and tasteless.

When the time came, Bill Sr. and Ruth passed ownership of The Spice House to the second generation—Patty Erd and her husband, Tom Erd. Patty and Tom infused the business with their own zeal and creativity, expanding to many more physical locations and bringing the business into the 21st century with the launch of thespicehouse.com. Frequently sought after as expert speakers and guests of honor at culinary events, Patty and Tom continued to build The Spice House’s reputation as a trusted purveyor of the freshest and highest quality spices.

We set out to do exactly that with a spice blend that says as much about our Golden State and Los Angeles as it does about how we love to cook and eat. I was delighted to see how versatile the Best Seller's Collection was; almost all of the spices included could be used as a go-to for things like fish, meat, and potatoes. And if you're stumped, each jar label offers a brief description with a few suggestions on what to use that seasoning for. As the weather warms up, we are always on the hunt for light lunch options. We've teamed with the food world's finest to bring you exciting new seasonings. We started thinking outside the traditional jar, and we think our Flatpack might change the way you store spices.

In over 2 million kitchens

Founded in 1957, The Spice House is a purveyor of the finest spices, herbs, signature blends, and premium extracts. Fresh spices make for incredible food, so it’s important to make sure your spices are adding their best flavors to your cooking. This flight of freshly ground cinnamons and cinnamon-maple sugar shows you the nuance and magic of our most popular baking spice. We narrowed the list down to 24 of our most popular spices and seasonings.

With its rich, earthy flavor and a subtle hint of sweetness, it brings an authentic taste of Hungary to your dishes. Hungarian Sweet Paprika adds color, depth, and a unique taste to your favorite recipes, making it an indispensable addition to any kitchen. Proteins, vegetables, and grains are the canvases that spices are painted on to create artful masterpieces in the kitchen. The highest quality cuts of beef and the fresh catches of the day deserve the freshest, highest quality spices.

Burlap & Barrel tweaked again, and the final blend is a true collaboration, a smoky, bright, aromatic blend that’s meant to celebrate some of our favorite flavors — and our devotion to all things spicy. Times Food art director Brandon Ly created the label design. The Spice House blends are fragrant and can elevate recipes. From Adobo to Za'atar, the Spice House has every type of spice, herb, and seasoning to create exquisite flavor in all your dishes. These are the spices called upon most in any kitchen, sourced from our global network of premium spice growers.

L.A. Times Food collaborated with single-origin spice company Burlap & Barrel to create California Heat. Smoky, aromatic and citrusy, it’s our tribute to the heat and spice and bright flavors of L.A. The spice blend combines a mix of hot, sweet and smoky chile varieties from Mexico and Kashmir, Middle Eastern black lime, Asian lemongrass and peppercorns related to the tingly Sichuan kind. These are some of the same ingredients in many of the cuisines we are dedicated to exploring across the city and Southern California.

Thousands of people love our spices, try for yourself and discover why. This Lemon Poppy Loaf is the perfect recipe to kickstart your spring baking! Any baker knows that spices—the best kind, in the right combination—are what set them above the rest. I like all the spices just quiet a few of them are dry rubs which I don't use all that often. For texture and crunch, there are toasty caramelized onions and crispy slivers of garlic and shallot. The Kashmiri chili powder is vibrant red, from an heirloom variety grown in Pampore, Kashmir, that’s a staple of Indian cooking — it was analogous to cayenne with its classic heat.

(Hello, fajitas and dipping oil.) I found it hard to do that with the caps provided in these jars, since the holes are so small. The Spice House was born in post-war, fast-paced America by founders Bill Sr. and Ruth Penzey. They sited the business at the western terminus of America’s most storied shipping waterway, giving them a global reach as they aspired to source the world’s finest spices. Armed with a discerning palate, a love of foreign cultures, and an unrelenting obsession to unearth the finest growers of spices worldwide, they built their network. It was a labor of love, and everyone in the family was involved.

Culinary Herbs

Their daughter Patty grew up working in the store, wielding large stainless-steel scoops, operating old-style mills and sifters, and acquiring an encyclopedic knowledge of spices. "The Spice House has been providing spices, herbs, blends and extracts to renowned Michelin-star chefs and home cooks for more than six decades." Try all three of our freshly ground cinnamons in one simple set. Hungarian Sweet Paprika from The Spice House is an indispensable spice that should be in every kitchen.

What to expect from the new Katy Trail Ice House bar in Dallas, The Depot

Please note that parking rates may vary depending on the time of day and day of the week. Billing itself as an “Austin-style beer garden,” Katy Trail Ice House has a 50-foot-long bar with 50 beers on tap, natch. It draws crowds thanks to the spacious tree-shaded backyard, which is voted one of the best patios in the city year after year.

BBQ & More

The new bar is one of two Katy Trail Ice House-related projects in North Texas right now. Cramer and his team are also building a $7 million beer garden in Allen. While it’s expected to look and feel like a sibling restaurant to Katy Trail Ice House, it isn’t an extension of that existing bar, with its picnic tables and shade trees in a backyard setting. It will have a bit of a honky tonk feel, Cramer says, with shuffleboard tables and a jukebox. If you don't feel comfortable walking on the road, it's usually easy to hitchhike at the end of Manker Flats and get a lift from other hikers down to Icehouse. If you want to check if there's snow on your hike, read this guide.

According to an article in the December 1974 issue of Ebony magazine, a commission headed by a former head of the CIA concluded that one of the main causes of the Watts uprising was “the absence of even one adequate and accessible medical facility within the community of some 400,000.” The hospital opened in 1972. Anderson says his architectural training and practice has always revolved around an intense collaboration between himself, the client, and the contractors, consultants, and reps involved in the process of design. A remodel that kicked off with Anderson designing the spaces solely for his client morphed into blending his own design aesthetic with that of his partner’s. Inspired by the success of Paul R. Williams, who designed mansions for celebrities and the LA elite, Robert Kennard began his career creating residential designs. He later shifted to work on public buildings, the New York Times wrote in Kennard’s 1995 obituary. According to SoCal NOMA, this police station was one of his last works.

Per Anderson’s process, he began with the standard design, documentation, and construction phases.

In addition to this UCLA eye clinic, Silcott designed the UCLA Boathouse at Marina del Rey and the Inglewood Courts Building. Personalize your stream and start following your favorite authors, offices and users. “I really try to get to know my clients and their unique needs and desires and make the home their own expression of themselves to the world.” In this case, it’s a shared expression. Everything was going swimmingly, even the incorporation of the marlin Harrison had caught as a teen in Hawaii and a 12-foot-long shuffleboard table.

Garrott also collaborated with Gregory Ain on a Silver Lake office building which the two men shared. So Morris scoured databases and records and contacted architects’ relatives and architecture firms, ultimately pinpointing 53 structures of social, cultural, and historic importance that were built because of the contributions and leadership of black architects. ADC Design Consultant Hillaire Long worked alongside the builder to provide flooring, tile flooring and backsplash, and design services, as well as selecting paint colors and countertops. Christine, a California Certified Nursery Professional, excels atdesigning beautiful and functional spaces. Her goal is to provide you with aspace that you will love and use for years to come.

Sleek, Modern Aesthetic

“It was all about making the space for my client, without a thought that I would be moving in someday,” Anderson says. Though architect Elmer Grey designed the hotel, Paul R. Williams went on to make many additions to it, updating the lobby, adding on the Crescent Wing of the hotel and its Palm Terrace. I’m not too big on celebrities these days, but any designer that has worked hard and made quality products would be great to meet. We appreciate customers continuing to be loyal to us during this age of technology. They can support small by continuing to shop with us, engaging with us on social media, and most importantly, spreading the word to their friends.

Anderson Design Center is a Hattiesburg, MS-based design firm offering full service residential and commercial design. A member of the Rowe family of retailers since 2020, they originally opened in 1982 with just 5 employees and have since grown to encompass two locations with over 45 employees. The design center showcases a wide array of styles to meet their clients’ needs, and offers a huge selection of custom furnishings such as Rowe, as well as flooring, case goods and lighting. They are also proud to be southern Mississippi’s largest rug source. The fourth (upper-most) floor of the addition also includes a classroom, directly under the 20-feet long rectangular skylight that illuminates the second-floor gallery, another element that bridges historic and new fabric.

It was commissioned specifically for the company, once the largest black-owned business west of the Mississippi, and built in 1928. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a city Historic-Cultural Monument. This two-story structure in Compton, designed by BASE Architecture, serves the community with programs focused on senior citizens, activity spaces, a gym, and a media room. The center is named after Compton’s first black mayor, who was elected in 1969. Beginning in 1981, the California African American Museum operated out of a section of what’s now the California Science Center. In 1984, while the Olympics were underway in LA, the museum’s permanent home opened.

Williams was a member of the congregation and also oversaw the design of the parish hall, according to the LA Sentinel. The building is attributed to Pereira & Luckman, but Williams was part of the team that designed LAX’s striking Theme Building. The trailblazing architect made a name for himself designing homes for such clients as Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Williams was the first African American member of the American Institute of Architects and later became the organization’s first black fellow in 1957. According to the application for national historic status, the architect, Garrott, “was one of the two most notable African American architects in Los Angeles; the other was Paul Williams.” Garrott was the second black member of the AIA (after Williams).

A line of faculty offices marks the western edge of the plan, each with a view to the building’s green roof, a visible reminder of the ethics of sustainability that are central to the preservation ethos that provides the conceptual framework for this new construction. A visual sliver of glass in the north and south elevations, the transparent wells of its new fire-stairs, creates a respectful seam that negotiates the addition and the original structure from the exterior, yet, from the interior, frames and underscores the carefully calculated relationships between the two. Meticulously fabricated architectural concrete, together with the contextually fitting stone cladding, vest the addition with a gravitas, a feeling of weight and substance, that honors its historic counterpart. Construction of the addition was facilitated by the removal of the long defunct and dysfunctional stack area of Vol Walker, an inhabitable relic of its original function as university library that defied rehabilitation. We offer a full range of landscape services to make your outdoor space aperfect blend between beauty and functionality.

Like Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises has been building big resortlike vessels that offer every sort of amusement known to humans, from giant water parks to race car simulators. It currently operates eight of the 20 biggest cruise ships in the world — one of which (MSC Meraviglia) now calls North America home with year-round sailings out of New York City. Enjoy spectacular views in this elegant lounge, offering the Yacht Club bar list of spirits, craft cocktails, beers and wines, soft drinks and coffee drinks. You can also enjoy a fine selection of gourmet finger food throughout the day.

The biggest suites on MSC Grandiosa, which launched in 2019, span two levels and offer around 635 square feet of interior space, plus another 237 square feet of outdoor balcony space. Still, MSC Cruises doesn't offer the sort of truly giant suites (more than 1,000 to 2,000 square feet) you'll find on some Norwegian and Royal Caribbean ships. In addition to all the above, MSC Group — the line's parent company — has announced plans for yet another class of big ships to start arriving later this decade, though few details have been released. MSC Group is also developing a series of small luxury vessels that'll operate under a separate brand called Explora Journeys. Together, the 14 World, Meraviglia, Seaside and Fantasia Class vessels make up MSC Cruises' big-ship fleet.

Here, you can discover elegance with luxury suites offering a 24/7 butler service. Enjoy curated menus in a private restaurant and unwind on the secluded pool deck. An elevated experience awaits you on a vacation that’s a step above. The action onboard an MSC ship is nonstop, with cruisers flocking to participate in pool games, sports contests, shopping promotions, trivia, karaoke and filling the nightclubs until late. On newer ships, high-tech arcade games are all the rage, including a 4D cinema, laser maze, F1 simulator and bowling.

With many exciting and tailored excursions to enjoy, there is no end of opportunity to be curious and adventurous with MSC Cruises. From French retro-chic to sleek contemporary, the entertainment venues on MSC Seashore immerse guests in a series of different universes, filled with the latest technology for fantastically fun experiences. The options are endless, from the main theatre or the new aft lounge, the high-tech disco and the larger than ever casino through to the sports bars – there’s something for every member type of traveller. The reviews of MSC Cruises will likely mention the price of your trip, which is often cheaper than comparable trips on other popular cruise lines.
